Build

Practical things built from real problems

This is where I bring together the things I build beyond consulting and client work: independent products, decision systems, and simulations that make complex topics easier to use, test, and understand.

The common thread is simple. Take a problem that usually sits inside a spreadsheet, presentation, or mental model, and turn it into something people can actually interact with.

Builder logic

01

Find a repeated problem

A file version gets lost, a deal assumption feels uncertain, or a system behaves in a way people cannot easily see.

02

Turn it into an interface

The problem becomes a product, calculator, estimator, or simulation that someone can use directly.

03

Make the thinking visible

The output should help users understand the why, not just see a result.

Products

Small tools. Real problems.

I build practical products around problems I have personally faced in consulting, analytics, writing, and software work. VersionTrail started with one simple frustration: losing the version I actually wanted to go back to.

The idea

Ctrl+S should save your work. It should also save your history.

Every developer, writer, designer, and analyst knows this moment. You are deep inside a file, a presentation, a design, or a codebase. You save often, you keep moving, and then suddenly you realize that the version you need is already gone.

Undo does not go far enough. Autosave does not always help. Manual copies are easy to forget. VersionTrail solves this with one simple behaviour: whenever you save, it quietly creates a timestamped backup in the background.

Problem

Important versions disappear because most tools save over the current file instead of keeping a clean version trail.

Solution

VersionTrail watches your files and creates automatic, timestamped backups every time a save is detected.

Tools

Decision systems for M&A, AI, and analytics

These tools are built around one practical belief: better decisions start before the spreadsheet, the investment memo, or the technical build begins. Each tool converts uncertainty into a clearer view of cost, risk, value, and trade-offs.
